The Role
Our CNT (Cloud Native Consulting Team) consists of expert Cloud Native Consultants.
Start-ups, scale-ups, enterprises and corporates we don’t limit ourselves to any particular type of organization, as long as they have pressing Cloud Native challenges.
That means you’ll work with a wide variety of stakeholders; from co-founders and directors to tech leads, depending on the type and structure of the organization. This also means you not only need excellent technical skills within the Cloud Native landscape, but also the ability to translate that technology into business cases that create more value through the solutions we offer.
As a result, the role you fulfil is broader: you’re responsible for the architecture, setting the direction, guiding clients in making choices, and actually implementing the new direction or redesigning an existing architecture. Of course, you’ll still get your hands on the technical “controls” plenty, and you draw energy from technical implementation work.
Together with a close-knit team of expert colleagues, you support a diverse client portfolio, including Royal Schiphol Group, Volvo, SmartMed, and many more.
What you will do
Container orchestration & platform
- Kubernetes: advanced, production-grade experience is non-negotiable; the JD explicitly calls this out twice
- On-prem Kubernetes specifically (not just managed cloud K8s: this is a differentiator vs. most candidates who only know EKS/AKS/GKE)
- Container runtimes/tooling (Docker or equivalent)
- Talos Linux: listed as nice-to-have, increasingly relevant for immutable on-prem K8s nodes
GitOps & CI/CD
- ArgoCD: explicitly required, core to the role
- Argo Workflows: explicitly required
- CI/CD pipeline design from scratch (not just maintaining existing ones): tools like GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Tekton
Infrastructure as Code
- Terraform (most commonly expected as the primary tool)
- CloudFormation (AWS-native alternative)
- Bicep (Azure-native alternative)
- Candidate doesn’t need all three: one deep + working familiarity with the concept across others is realistic
Cloud platforms
- AWS, Azure, and/or GCP: multi-cloud fluency, ability to switch tooling per client context rather than deep specialization in just one
- Both public and private cloud experience
Architecture & systems
- Distributed systems design
- Containerized microservices patterns
- Highly scalable web application architecture
- Edge computing << Would be great
Certifications (signal, not strict requirement)
- Kubestronaut status (or similar experience): explicitly called a plus, this is the CNCF program covering all 5 core Kubernetes certs (CKA, CKAD, CKS, KCNA, KCSA): a strong signal of depth
Soft/consulting layer (not tech, but gating)
- Ability to translate technical architecture into business cases
- Client-facing communication across levels (engineers to C-suite)
- Coaching/mentoring junior engineers
- Roadmap and compliance/best-practices advisory skills
What are we looking for
- You have 5+ years of experience in a Cloud Native, DevOps, or platform engineering role, and are ready for an advisory, leading, consultancy role towards clients.
- You have demonstrable experience with Argo (ArgoCD/Argo Workflows) and on-prem Kubernetes environments.
- You have advanced knowledge of Kubernetes in production environments (Kubestronaut status is a plus).
- You have experience with infrastructure as code (such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep) and setting up CI/CD pipelines from scratch.
- You have experience with both public and private cloud providers (AWS/Azure/GCP) and can switch between different tooling depending on the client context.
- You understand distributed systems, including containerized microservices and highly scalable web applications.
- You can independently advise a client, outline a roadmap, and translate it into concrete, measurable steps towards compliance and best practices.
- You are a strong communicator: you’re just as comfortable at the table with engineers as with stakeholders at management level.
- You have experience coaching and mentoring (junior) engineers.
- You are passionate about the Cloud Native community.
- You are fluent in English.
Personality and ways of working
- Consultative and curious – you dig for the real need instead of just building what is asked.
- Autonomous and proactive, comfortable setting direction where there isn’t one yet.
- A strong communicator who can bridge business and technical worlds.
- Collaborative – you enjoy working across teams and locations
Location
Sofia, Bulgaria. This is a full-time role with a hybrid working model.
